Tokyo-based American artist Gavin Baker has collaborated with Krammer & Stoudt for the past 3 years. Working primarily in photography, painting, and sculpture, Gavin has created unique and inspiring set designs for AW16, SS17, and AW17 presentations at New York Men’s Day. Gavin recreated to scale a 1978 Cadillac Coupe de Ville for SS17, and laid full-size train tracks as part of his vision for AW17.
For his contribution to the SS19 presentation, he documented the busy streets and quiet spaces of Tokyo in stop motion vignettes, projected over the stage as the primary visual component of the SS19 NYFW:M presentation. The effect was an impressionistic collage of Tokyo life, interpreted from an American perspective, the serenity of tradition emerging from the chaos of a modern vibrant city.
